Epidemiological Studies of Burn in Children

Abstract
The authors made a clinical observation on 104 cases of burn who visited the department of pediatrics of C. A. F. G.II.
The results were summarized as following:
1. The age of most patients was under 3 years of age (80.7%) and the highest incidence was observed between 1 to 2 years of age (31.7%), Males were affected more frequently than females.
2. In families of many children younger siblings were more frequently affected.
3. The burn was caused most commonly by hot water (62.5%).
4. The most common environmental factor affecting burn was parental neglect (83.7%/).
5. Long-term complications were scars causing cosmetic problem (53.80), functional disability (9.6%) and emotional disturbance (3.80).
